Well I had to get a picture of Roscoe P. "Cold"train my little hummingbird that arrived right after our snow storm. He sure brought a big burst of sunshine into my life after that horrendous mess.

I hope he stays warm also. He is still here this morning and I have contacted the Rare Bird Alert list for the Buffalo area and a licensed bander who I sent pictures to to see if he can possibly tell if he is a rubythroat or rufous. I will be a bit concerned if he stays around too much longer.

RE: Hummingbird on Oct. 14

Well my little girl is still here as of 15 minutes ago on Friday Oct. 20th. She seems very content going from salvia to salvia even skirting the ground if necessary to reach some of the blossoms from the almost flattened plants from last Thursday's Storm. Her absolute favorite is the Salvia guaranitica 'Van Remsen' and I have that one propped up with a section of wire fencing and stakes so that she can access the blossoms. She is as fat as a pig so I am hoping that she will head south before the temps drop too much more.

and she is still here

Yes my little hummer is still here today Oct. 21st.

If you grow nectar rich hummer plants and they are still blooming please don't cut them back. There are some like my little lady who won't use a feeder and are going to be relying on any flowers they can find if they ever decide to move southward.
