Some of my daffodils and reticulated irises are poking up already. This happens some years - they get snowed on and still do fine in the spring. I've got some pansies that are still green, but no blooms. The ground isn't even close to frozen - if I could still find tulip bulbs, I could plant them easily. Weird weather.

Hi Laurel - Your comment about the tulips reminded me that I had a bag of 40 daffodils sitting in the garage. So I ran out and planted them! :) I never got a chance to get out there this fall since I had knee surgery and have been laid up for weeks. I'm finally on a good recovery. It's been nice having this "warm" weather so I can catch up on the gardening stuff that I didn't get to do in the fall. I hope to get out there again next week!

I'm glad to hear that your knee is better, and that you can get around easier again. I've got some small daffodil bulbs to plant, too (from a friend dividing bulbs late in the year). And, a couple brave pansies are blooming. I'm going to try winter sowing some antique form/color pansies this year - I love the patterned ones with their whiskery little faces.

I've got a few small things to catch up on, too, while the weather holds. I'm making a new raised bed in the front yard (by the driveway turnaround), for daylily seedlings, and I've got some rocks to edge it with. They're in a pile in the front yard; they need to get to their permanent home before they freeze to the ground. So, that's this morning's project. I also need to mulch my roses. I can't believe it's still this warm right before the New Year.
