When is it safe to plant vegetable plants (gallon or smaller) in the ground without fear of freezing?

With no protection? Mid-to late May to be safe.

Country girl- you should visit my blog for more ideas. I've been able to grow produce and veggies year-round in northern utah which can be a challenge. It's March 3rd and my vegetable gardens are almost completely planted. We save a lot of money, it's all organic(saves us even more), and the quality of taste is unmatched compared to virtually anything you buy at the stores. Come on over and check it out.
