Has anyone ever been to the Thanksgving Point Gardening Workshops? I wasn't sure if it was a new offering. I had just signed up for the fruit tree pruning class on the 28th, and noticed it.

Each class is taught for 50 minutes by a Utah State University Extension Service Advanced Master Gardener. They charge $5 per class. Is anyone here teaching these classes?

I was just wondering how basic they would be, or if they would be a nice intro into the topics. They include:

9:00-9:50 AM Pruning Stone Fruits
Learn the proper method for pruning peach and apricot.

9:00-9:50 AM Basic Vegetable Gardening
If you have never gardened or are new to Utah this class is for you.

Spring is just around the corner. Learn what you can be doing now in the garden.

9:00-10:30 AM Creating a Tufa Trough

In case you have not notice Utah does not have the best soil. Learn about topsoil, mulches and amendments.

I went in 2006. It was fairly basic stuff. If you’re like me and you read garden books and magazines and have tried a lot of things in the garden, you may not get a lot out of it. It was excellent for beginning gardeners or someone wanting to try something they've never done or read about.

They had people teaching who were trying to earn their master gardener certification, which requires some volunteer hours. It seemed that some of them did not feel comfortable teaching and were a bit nervous.

I wish they had an advanced level of classes. But on the other hand, at only $5 a class, it was not a bad deal.

I'm teaching a waterwise landscape design class in May at the Conservation Garden Park gardens. I have not taken any of the Thanksgiving Point offerings but I'm sure they are fine, if somewhat basic.
