Leonurus?

I just purchased a plant from Glover Nursery and was told that it's called leonurus. Can't find it in my Sunset book. Does anyone know anything about it, or maybe a picture? Thanks.

RE: Leonurus?

It is Leonotis leonurus and I have grown it as an annual for a few years in my Minnesota garden. Mine are about 8 or 9 feet tall and have more of a spiny ball from which the orange flowers protrude than the flower cluster shown in the photo. The stem goes right through the center of each spiny ball, so it looks like a Dr. Seuss plant. Grows easily from seed. Looks like a drought-tolerant kind of plant but actually seems to like being well watered. Needs sun. I have sandy, well-drained soil. There are other similar species, such as L. nepetifolia, and it seems to me that nurseries sell them all interchangeably. If you Google on photos of it, you'll see what I mean.

Every time I see the subject, I think of Leon Uris, the author of Exodus (and many other books).
