Poppy Changing Color

I planted orange poppies about 18 years ago. They moved slightly within the garden (about 4-5 feet), but over the years the color has gotten lighter. This year they are blooming almost white in color. Is this normal for an old plant? It is very bushy now and has a lot of buds, but only two have actually opened.

I also live in Utah, but I have never heard of poppies changing color. I wonder if you need to fertilize? Our soils can be problematic - I would use something with micronutrients and especially iron.
