Cedar City Planting Ideas

Hi All,

We just relocated to Cedar City Utah and would like to start a nice vegetable garden as soon as we can. I need to know when I should plant to avoid freezing. Also what grows best here and what should I avoid? If raise beds are needed in this area or just a little bit of compost.

Any help would be great. Thank you very much and God Bless You All.

Cedar City isn't too much warmer, or dryer than Salt Lake, it just seems that way, the winters are a bit milder, and the summers can be dryer so depending on how much water you have and your elevation... you can grow pretty much any annual vegetable you want: radishes, lettuce, corn, sunflowers, broccoli... but the old standbys are tomatoes and zucchini. Usually safe to plant out tomatoes after may 1.
