Where are you in Cache Valley? Looks like maybe the eastern bench on the north side (N. Logan, Smithfield perhaps).

I am at the south end of the valley in College Ward. NEVER, NEVER would've considered growing such beauties in Cache Valley. Well done.

Thanks Dereks! Thomashton, believe it or not, I'm your neighbor in Young Ward, west of you, out in the bottom of the valley. You can send me an e-mail to arctictropical@aol.com. You're welcome to stop by and visit.

Well, I'll be.

I live across the street from the church and south a couple houses. Moved into Earl Roberts' house 4 years ago between Max and Karen Peterson and Rory and Melanie Peterson. I'll have to come take a trip out to visit.

Hey, thomashton, I just live 1/2 mile west of you, about a block west of the dead-end sign. You can call me at (435) 512-6314.

Great Kevin. I figure that you were down by Pelican when you said you were in Young Ward and by relooking at the pictures.

I don't have anything as lovely as yours yet, but I have reclaimed 1+ acre of horse pasture and have been planting a small forest grove. Most trees are 7-12' only right now, but in 10 years it will be nice.

I have many maples, ashes, pine (eastern white, austrian), spruce (colorado blue, norway), aspen, even variegated tulip trees, a sweet gum, dawn redwoods, mulberry, rowans, box elders, oaks (northern red, swamp white, pin, burr), hackberry, cottonwood, frazier fir, birch, larch, and even a grand fir that was planted 3 years ago I thought was dead that came back this year. I'm pretty jazzed about that one.

I think I only have room for 11 more trees in my current configuration, so I have begun planting the understory. I have American filberts, red and black currants, gooseberries, and two types of serviceberries right now. Once the shade gets denser I will plant ferns and other forest floor things as well as some thimble berries and other edibles.

Once it is all planted and just needs to be maintained, I will start work on a system of trails, dry creek beds, and a pond (approx 30' across) in the center of "the meadow" area that I left unplanted for parties and the like. Also planning a large outdoor fireplace in there and gazebo that goes out over the water of the pond.

Give me 15 years or so and it will be awesome.
