Lollipop Crabapple

I have a new home and I'm searching for a small, heat resistant tree to plant on my southwest side, in front of a window for some shade. Does anyone have experience with the Lollipop Crab or the Coral Burst Crab? I live in Davis Co. I need something that will stay fairly small (I will be planting in front of the front (middleone w/the arch) window).

RE: Lollipop Crabapple

I don't know much about lollipop crabs, but my parents had a coral crabapple for years. The pink blossoms in the spring are breathtaking, and it's a good shade tree that doesn't get too big. However, the fruit is not edible and EXTREMELY messy. The crabapples get stuck to the soles of your shoes if you walk on them, and they seem to get everywhere. But, if you can deal with the mess it may be a good choice for you.
