Sorry to hear your banana died.  Did you try to overwinter it outside?  I have one planted in the ground and was thinking I would try to overwinter outside by putting bags of leaves around it and then covering with a tarp to keep it dry.  Maybe I should rethink this plan and dig the rootball and keep in the garage.

actually it died outside in the spring after over-wintering indoors. i think the time spent indoors is what killed it. it looked pretty bad when i took it out and put it in the ground. it was probably mostly dead.

if i can get another i would keep it mulched outdoors, or at least in cold storage. i think it was the active growth and being in a pot with low humidity that got it.

I got mine last summer and kept it in a pot since it was only about 3 feet tall.  I kept it in my south facing living room all winter and it did really well.  Very little humidity in my house and I never misted it.  It grew a lot by spring and once I put it outside it struggled for a while, until it became acclimated to the sun.  Now its pretty big and I don't want to lose it.  Last week I found a small basjoo at Lowes on clearance for $6.00.  I will keep that one in the house in case the big one outside doesn't make it.  If it does make it thru the winter I may have pups next year to share.

mine never grew indoors, but what died the next spring was actually a grand daughter of the plant i bought in the fall. with the older plant dying. i don't know what i did wrong.

might have to visit lowes just to see if i am as lucky.

Bought mine last fall on closeout from lowes, Grew it indoors through the winter, took one pup from it in the spring and then planted it out in the summer near my foundation the plant is now about 5' tall and has about 4 pups around the base under 1' tall I am going to build a cage and mulch around it this fall but the pup I took off in the spring will come indoors this winter for insurance the pup is now about 2' tall
