When do you Cut Back your Shrubs/Bushes

| I have noticed that tons of folks in Utah County cut back their shrubs/bushes in the fall. It makes the yard look so nice for the colder months. But many of theshrubs/ bushes that they cut are to be cut in the spring according to what I have read. Still their bushes look wonderful come springtime and summer months. Can you help me understand this. I would dearly love to cut things in the fall also but hesitate when I read on line that most pruning and stooling should be done in the spring. Thanks |

| I've learned that sometimes you can get away with breaking some of the rules of pruning, but if you really love the tree or shrub, you may not want to risk cutting it now. It just causes more stress for the plant. |
