Some counties have garden plots in community gardens but their waiting lists are 2 or more years long. Any other options?

Call your local cooperative extension office. They might know of somewhere you can lease.

I don't know about other counties or cities but Fairfax county has community garden plots. Look up Fairfax Parks and recreation and look for them. I think you have to be a Fairfax county resident.
