where are my crocus???

| When do the crocus bloom???? I planted some for the first time in the fall, and always remember them years past coming up in the snow, so it must have been February. I have not seen anything yet and am wondering if the squirrels got to them first. |

| I only have 2 yellow and 2 lavender crocus blooms so far. Give them more time. Do you see crocus leaves? |

| Mine have just begun to leaf up (Fairfax). Yes, very late this year as I have early varieties which usually start blooming early to mid-February. In spite of whatever Dulles and National are getting, I've seen very little rainfall since December -about 1½" in January and not quite ½" in February. I'm suspecting the drought has affected the growth. Although maybe not, the daffodils have 6"+ leaves although no visible buds. |

| I have been getting home too late to tell. I have two patches coming up but am not sure it is crocus: the leaves seem too wide. Do some varieties have wider leaves? I had spread them pretty evenly in one area, where these two patches are makes me think they may not be crocus. Guess we will see what this week's rain and warm weather brings. |

| The yellows by the mailbox and one lonely purple [hiding in the daffies] opened yesterday. The others are still in the contemplative stage. Rain + warmth + time = crocus blooms. harryvetch ~ gorgeous pictures! |

| here, the leaves have popped out of the ground about 3". But so far, no flowers. BTW, it seems to be less of them every year. |

| Mine are up now, and I do have the flower, but they seem to be staying closed. Do they open only during certain times of the day? Maybe I'm checking on them at the wrong time of the day. |

| I think they're only open when it's sunny. They close if it's cloudy and maybe later in the day. |

| When I planted mine, I had purple, a few whites and yellow ones. This year there are no yellow ones at all! This years' batch never did look that great. They look limp and really didn't open all the way. Here is a pic of them in their better days. Not the best as it was taken before I had my digital camera and had to scan it.
