Temporary ground cover for erosion control

I live in Richmond, Virginia. We cleared the sloped area (8,000 square feet) behind our cabin to install a geothermal loop. We won't be able to landscape for one or two years, at which time we want to use mostly native plantings. In the meantime, we need to prevent erosion and control dust. We don't live in the house yet, so we want something that is low maintenance, as well as not requiring a lot of chemical fertilizers. Eventually, the space will probably be plowed under when we start real landscaping. What are our best options for a ground cover that is not overly expensive. Thanks in advance!
