Wildflower mix border for vegetable garden

We want to put a wildflower border around our garden about 1 foot wide by 350 feet.

We're reluctant to buy ready mix seed packs as we've been told they have lots of "fill" in them. We want to mix our own seeds.

How much seed do you think it would take and what types would you suggest for a good mix that grows well in central Virginia.
