Is your rhubarb up yet?

Posted by growsveges 8VA (My Page) on

The local strawberries are ripening and I haven't seen any sign of my rhubarb yet. This is its 3rd year. If yours is up, any idea what might be wrong or am I just being impatient thinking of some strawberry rhubarb pie?
(I'm in Virginia Beach Zone 7B/8A. thanks

I'm in the mountains, in zone 6 and my rhubarb is big enough to pick if you are in a hurry for that pie! I'd gently dig round the area your plants are in to see if anything is remaining. If so perhaps you can treat the crown if it has rot or something. Sadly though I'd think your plant is dead or you'd be seeing something by now.I got my plant through a plant exchange. If you need more maybe you could find a crown that way sine the miserably small specimens you can buy take forever to grow.
Sorry you are disappointed..I'm waiting for the strawberries for that pie.
