Can I still plant Lily of the Valley?

I have a shade garden where I put in a few plants last year, but I was disappointed by lack of any spread and I'm impatient :-) Can I order a bunch through one of those online rags I get in the mail (Spring Hill, Michigan Bulb, etc) or do I just run to my local nursery?

thanks

I think it takes them a year or two to get acclimated... then watch out! Make sure they are in partial shade, nice rich composty soil, and getting plenty of moisture this year -- especially through the dry summer/autumn.

I'm a bit leery of the, umm, rags. Did you check the swap groups? Usually folks who have LOVs are glad to get rid of some after a few years. And- yes- they can be planted now, just be extra-careful to maintain a moist-but-not-saturated environment for them. I'm one of the ones who think they will transplant better if you plant them while dormant in late fall or winter.
