Does anyone know when to break candles on a white pine?
And how long do they stay tender? This is when there're to be broken is my understanding, are we talking weeks,a couple of months or what?

Please Help! Thanks,Walt1

You're talking about a couple of weeks, and if it were me, I'd break them as soon as they've elongated nicely, but before they "fluff out" at all.

Pines are usually "pruned" in June. The normal procedure is to take off 1/2 of the new candle then. Breaking or pruning with hand clippers is fairly easy but can be a lot of work if the tree has much size to it.
