name that flower (or is it a weed?)

These off-white flowers resemble foxgloves. You see them anywhere...particularly on banks, even in peoples' flowerbeds. They have long, pointed leaves at the base (looks like aloe plant). I haven't seen one up-close. My late father-in-law called them "cemetary flowers". I don't know if he was right, or if that was just the name he gave them. Thanks.

Do you mean yucca? It is quite usual to find it growing around cemetaries.
