Is Yellow Squash Ready?

This is the first time I've ever planted this. I got it in very early and it has a prime location. Squash is now "as big as in the supermarket." Is it ready? How can I tell?
Thanks!

Squash can be eaten at just about any size up until they develop tough seeds and skin. It sounds like you need to pick them now. Younger/smaller is better. If some get too big and tough, don't throw them out. Peel them and scoop out the seeds. Then grate the flesh and add onion, egg, flour, salt, pepper, and some herbs of your choice, make patties and fry in the skillet. Excellent!

Excellent advice. I'm going to pick it now and stay on top of the plants, they seem to develop very quickly.
