What else looks like a Tulip Tree

Posted by primrose_06 VA (My Page) on

I found three trees on my property today that have the same leaf shape as a tulip tree but the bark is smooth, I can't see any blossoms (or missed them if they already bloomed). Does anyone know of a tree that looks similar to a tulip tree? I would certainly appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Maybe a young tulip tree? Most trees have smoother bark when they are still relatively small - the corrugations and such appear as the bark has to expand to allow the tree to grow in girth.

Is a tulip tree the same as a tulip poplar? They grow very straight and very tall in this area (Augusta Co.) and I believe they are smooth barked.

Possibly sycamore. Here's a link:

Or just google "sycamore leaf".
