| I am growing both tropic and granny cantrell tomatoes this year. First of all, are tropic tomatoes heirloom tomatoes?I've tried to find info on these and had no luck. Next how long does it usually take a granny cantrell tomatoe to ripen? |

Depends: There are several tomatoes with tropic in their name, the only hybrid that I am aware is Tropic Boy from Takii. The conventional Tropic is an open pollinated heat resistant tomato released in 1969 by The Florida Experiment Station at Bradenton. A commercial tomato similar to Manalucie and Manapal. There also is a yellow tomato named Tropic. Some folks consider any open pollinated variety an heirloom. Granny Cantreel is usually listed as an 80 day tomato, making it midseason. |
