Where/How to buy small amount of sod

Posted by missingsod va (My Page) on

Hi you all,

I am trying to patch up my lawn due to the dry summer season. A few of the spots are totally died, I guess it would be easier for me to put on the new sod, instead of reseeding. I would like to buy the sod (Tall Fescue) for small amount -- 150 to 200 square feet.

Do anybody know where I could buy the sod in northern Viginia area (I live in Sterling area). How much it will cost?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I know that some nurseries in Richmond will sell small amounts of sod. Pull out your yellow pages directory and let your fingers do the walking. Even if the nurseries don't have it they may be able to tell you where you can get it. Or try calling your local cooperative extension office. They are an excellent source of information and might know the answer.

If you are still looking, I know that Meadows Farms sells sod. I would not be surprised if Blue Mount Nursery off Route 7 sold sod as well. I often see pallets of the stuff a Home Depot but they would be my last choice.

You might also check with Betty's Azalea Ranch on Rt.29 in western Fairfax, across from Home Depot. They have sod pretty much all year around and I have purchased just 4-6 pieces from them before.
