stilt grass

This stuff had taken over my back yard. I pulled it by hand the last two summers after it flowered, but never got 100%. We also applied corn gluten two springs ago, but thought an unpredicted storm had washed it all away.

THIS year it is very sparse in my yard, even though it seems to be thriving in areas nearby. I don't know whether I've almost vanquished it, or whether it is diabolically taking a year off.

I searched for 2006 posts under "stilt grass" and "microstegium" and didn't find it as a main question. Is anyone still fighting it?

What is stilt grass? I thought I had every known weed in the past in my yard. I have fought crabgrass, clover, chickweed, black clover. But I have never heard of stilt grass.
