What's in Bloom?

What's giving you early autumn color?

My asters are in bloom, as well as sedum autumn joy and matrona. The French marigolds are going crazy and a nice combination with a ratty second bloom of nepeta.

Russian sage is a nice color contrast with the sedum.

Still waiting on mums as well as my pineapple sage. Clematis sweet william is a puffy frosting all over the property... not finding it as fragrant as advertised.

First year lavender is in full first flush as everything has bounced back with the regular rains.

RE: What's in Bloom?

Blue-stem goldenrod just starting under the oak. Aster macrophylla is a month late but now in full bloom, as is A. divaricata. The sun-loving asters haven't started yet, except for A. novae-angliae.

Lobelia siphilitica still hanging in there. Salvias - Black & Blue going strong, selfseeded S. coccinea coming into bloom in various shades, not even a whisper of a bloom yet on pineapple sage or S. mexicana Limelight. My ruellias have FINALLY deigned to bloom, though it's not real heavy.

Eupatorium "Chocolate" just starting. Daylily Autumn Prince still going strong, probably for another week or two, finishing out its month-long season.
