Cutting back Weigela

Posted by lostkitties Shenandoah Valley VA (My Page) on

I have a Carnival Weigela that has grown low and leggy for the past few years, and it's likely due to the fact it's never been cut back. I'd like to get it to grow up, so do I cut it back now or in the spring?

RE: Cutting back Weigela

If you cut it back now, you'll cut off all of next spring's flower buds. Best practice with Weigelas is to prune right after the main flush of bloom.
