Brugmansia Hardiness

I have an apricot Brugmansia, also 3 different colors of angel trumpets or datura. This is my first year with these. Up to now, I've only grown the common white datura or angel trumpet which comes back from the roots and also readily self seeds here in Virginia Beach. Was told that all of these will overwinter and come back from the roots. Have them all against a stockade fence planted in the ground with lots of leaf mulch. Facing south. I have seeds of the purple angel trumpet but not from the others.
Will all of these overwinter? I'm thinking I should bring the apricot Brugmansia in where it won't freeze, or try keeping cuttings, just for insurance. This is the plant with the long hanging apricot flowers.
Any advice or experience would be appreciated.
Nigel

RE: Brugmansia Hardiness

They will overwinter here in zone 7. A friend of mine has grown them for several years. I just planted an apricot in the spring and he gave me cuttings of a white. The cuttings were AMAZINGLY easy to root. Just stuck them in a one gallon pot of soil and they were rooted in a couple of weeks. I am keeping them inside for the winter. You might want to root some back ups and then have some to share/trade in the spring. The tops die down anyway.
