I'm looking for a 5-6 ft dwarf tart/pie cherry tree for my front yard in Arlington county, anyone have suggestions/experience with these? It's pretty hard to find info on what will grow well in this area.

RE: Dwarf cherries in NoVa?

The Virginia Cooperative Extension http://www.ext.vt.edu has information online on what fruit trees are best for Virginia, as well as a ton of info on how to grow and if you'll need another pollinator tree to grow along side. It's a very useful website and the local extension offices usually have Master Gardener volunteers manning phones for questions. Here's the Arlington branches' info:
3308 S. Stafford Street
Arlington, VA 22206
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday - Friday

Main Office: (703) 228-6400

Happy growing!

Post this question over in the Fruit & Orchards forum - there are several 'regulars' over there who are located in your area who can give 'real world' recommendations on varieties that are proven producers there. Pay special attention if Don 'Jellyman' Yellman weighs in - his advice & recommendations will be beyond reproach, based on decades of experience.
