Egg Shells and Cornmeal

I realize their are countless posts concerning this but I bring attention to this as a point of importance and you know what they say , " a picture is worth a thousand words." Besides drying out and pulverizing my egg shells I sometimes/usually add white cornmeal to the mix.

Normally I will not see many if any worms on top of the shredded paper but yesterday I sprinkled some of the mix on top just to see if they would come up to get it. Normally I move the paper back and sprinkle on the lower food and bedding. And checking back today...........

I admire your restraint in sprinkling. If I had a gallon of the stuff and went to sprinkle that bin... I would end up with a quarter inch over the entire top of the bin and an empty gallon jug.

Nice pics!

Did you pre soak the cornmeal, or was it dry? It was a quick response by the worms.

When I first started doing this I just left it dry then read somewhere that its better wet so I put it in dry and wet it down with a mister. To tell you the truth I cant tell any difference in their reaction be it wet or dry.

Since Ive layered the burlap to fit and soaked it plus adding egg and cornmeal activity has greatly increased or at least seems that way.
