Dilute the salty canned good food in water and add more brown material to counter act the extra water being added to the bin.

I won't put ANY salt in my bins, but some people aren't concerned about the small amount of salt in canned foods.

If it was once OK for you to eat, then the worms should be OK.

No science to that opinion mind you. LOL

Thanks for your thoughts! The cans are mostly beans -- maybe I'll give them a quick rinse and then dump them in.

Does anyone have any further insight into this scenario? I also have expired food cans, and was wondering if I could rinse them well (canned green beans), then add them to the bin?

Yes I've done it with some old pickled carrots and old soups. I also made sure to mix it in with other food scraps when adding it to my bin. It didn't cause any problems.
