Has anyone identified what they think to be their worms favorite food?

Horse manure.

Followed by goose droppings, tomatoes, and green peppers.

Melon, newspaper, avocado, bread are things I notice go quickly in my worm bin.

Plain pumpkin puree, watermelon rinds and partially finished compost is the #1 favorite.

temperatures

We may soon be moving to a condo where i would have to keep my worm bins in the garage. Does someone here know what the minimum temperature should be for a healthy worm colony?

Bread does not go quickly in my bin. Bread goes moldy, and becomes a hard, dry mess. Eventually the mold does its thing, and leaves behind what appears to be a worm delicacy. But it takes a while, maybe several weeks, to get to that point. I only feed small amounts of bread at a time.

Methinks a shorter list might be what is the Least Favorite. Mine seem to like whatever goes in the bin.

sbryce, try tearing the bread up, and mixing it with some blended kitchen scraps (if you can be bothered of course..lol). It seems to be gone very quickly in mine, also helps soak up that lovely slop they seem to love soooo much.

Favorite food you say? If I let the scraps build up for say 5 days (starting to smell and release liquid), then blend it all up and add some bread crusts and mix with DRY shredded paper, the worms are on it in a day. Doesn't really seem to matter what the components are.

I did notice it took 2-3 days when I had a mainly frozen broccholi mixture blend, but it still went in the week.

Bucketful of frozen then thawed veggie scraps, coffee grounds and tea bags mixed 50:50 with shredded paper. But don't the worms actually eat the organisms that break down the above mixture?

The worms ingest the "food" along with the microbes, and derive their nutrition from the microbes. Their favorite "foods" seem to be those foods that attract the most microbes the fastest,
