I gave the bin some love. Thinking of EQ2, bedding was added!

As you can see, I do very little pre-processing. After 2 months, that carrot is getting soft!

I like the idea of preprocessing but only if it is way too easy, time is on my side. Small bins are obviously a different story as that melon might upset a 360.

I remember in the beginning or close to it I cut up a winter squash. I cut half lengthwise and placed them face down just to see how long it would take . After a couple months they were pretty much dissolved and eaten. I wonder that my worms survived during that period.

I'm still admiring this strategy.
To worm whackos ( vermiphiles) garbage is food,
even when it's the neighbors' or the next table in the restaurant;
everything is a worm, and everything is a worm bin.
This strategy lifts spot feedng to a more manageable level,
while creating more air in the box/bin.
Any section not fed will work as passive migration.
It can be bigger or smaller.
I think it needs horsemanure to be fail safe, idiot proof, Neglectable.
In a climate like Pete's it can be open bottom outdoors, fenced by
straw bales. In Alaska it could be on a patio, straw below, around
and maybe a thick piece of solid /rigid styrofoam, shiny on one side,
black on the other side, for a lid.
