Storage of vermicompost!

Im sure this has been hashed over many times on here but Im relatively new here so have some patience.

I have read that in storage of good quality compost it should kept moist if you are not going to use it immediately. I have been keeping mine in a 5gal bucket with air holes in it and a cover. This mix which is from a mix of the last two harvests is stll moist and maybe slightly sticky and I have even spied a worm or two in the mix, maybe some I overlooked or possibly from cocoons. From this mix of castings I have added to some cuttings I have been overwintering at 25% of the mix and all are doing excellent lots of new leaf starts thruout. Quite happy on that account, but what say you on the keeping compost moist in storage? I was lead to believe by doing this you can keep the bacteria/microbes alive, either way the material is doing well for me.
