It seems aloe is something people put vermicastings onto rather than vice versa. Removing the spikes would be for your benefit, I do not think the worms would care or would be bothered by them. Aloe may be astringent which I take to be acidic. Not a problem. " cut it up and freeze/thaw it with the rest of my scrap veggies" sounds like a great idea. "if the worms like it" the worms would no doubt like the bacteria and other wee beasties that would eventually grow on it as it decomposed. I'm imagining tossing in a spike to the bin. The aloe self heals and looks fine six months later at harvest time. Perhaps it has even grown baby spikes and roots.

Is the aloe kitchen scraps?
I bought an aloe spike at the store but am not sure how to "cook" it.

Well, I am sure once I start producing my own castings, They will go onto the aloe... for now, my aloe has a dying 'leaf', so I figured it can just be reused!

Yes, aloe is certainly a growing plant! It never stops! But this isnt a whole plant, just a single leaf, which I think is past the point of being able to regenerate itself.
