Bag of meal worm castings crawling with live beetles

californian

I recently bought a bag of meal worm castings to use as a soil amendment and organic fertilizer and asked the seller if I had to worry about eggs hatching. She played dumb and said she didn't know. Well I just opened the bag and I see many live darkling beetles crawling around in the castings. I am glad I didn't mix it with my potting soil and ruin it. Is it even safe to use these beetle infested castings in my garden or will I bring a plague of beetles upon myself by doing so? Will the beetles die if they don't have their normal diet or will they just start eating my plants and vegetables and fruit? Will the larva eat my plants or their roots?
