Weird creature have taken residence in my bin

Until recently everything seems to be ok in my bin. I have noticed some thing i feel need to be taken care but I do not have the slightest clue of what they may be or their relationship to the bin. There seems to be little gray worms about 1/4" inch or so. The thing that worries me is that they are not red. Would these baby worms? I have also noticed some little brown sand like things on some of the worms and in masses. Are these beneficial or how should I go about to getting rid of them?

I thank you guys so much for your help.

Photos of the gray "worms" would help. The brown sand things are probably mites. Here are links to some photos of common worm bin critters.
