jgore -- Those "little, white, baby worms" are pot worms not composting worms. Even the tiniest red worm is definitely pink. Pot worms are white to yellow. And while pot worms are part of the decomposition process, you may want to cut back on feeding and watering til the population stabilizes.

...and the coffee grounds. Pot worms love acidic food. As Folly said hold off feeding try to get your bin drier (mix shredded paper into the bedding).

Don't despair- it's rarely too late. Worms are adaptable creatures- and even as they die off, they valiantly shed cocoons to ensure the next generation.

And when the eggs hatch your bin will be overrun with baby worms.

I'll try adding more paper. I had bad luck with cardboard and mite explosions, but I can do shredded newspaper safely it seems. I'm just a little disappointed/confused, as I was very careful not to overfeed, the moisture seems optimal, the bin is indoors...

Any other ideas on how to revitalize the population would be greatly appreciated.

Try leaving the lid off for a few hours- with light on it just in case there are any adults!
Also, paper and cardboard absorb alot of water but stay 'wet' and can get acidic. If you can get hold of any coir it's great for rescuing bins. Just don't mix it in - flake it carefully and put some of it UNDER the rest of the bedding.
(It absorbs water very fast so if you mix it in, it can actually dry worms skin- bad news!!)
