Ken it would take much longer for worms to move into patties. Have you looked over the bank you mentioned in an earlier post? Check the really old stuff (2+ years). That is where I would be if I were a worm. Pete

It's got me beat When I was younger and wanted fish bait all I would do is get a empty coffe can and hit the pasture and get all I wanted.These same fields is now empty.Menopete that bank is on my uncles farm.Also my compost pile has been there since about Aug surely if there were a bunch of worms around they would be in there.The worms in my bin love it (took about three gallons to them and put it in my new outdoor bin)

Perhaps the cows now are given some form of medication that discourages worms? That's definitely a problem with people who have access to free horse manure.

The cows are not dewormed.And we don't have horses here anymore.(ten years).

I just turned over my oldest compost pile. Lots of good black dirt but not a single worm.
