Worms in an absolute feeding frenzy with carrots.

Have had my bin about a year and a half and it's done ok I guess. A little while back we had a bag of baby organic carrots that went out of date so they got delegated to me. I put them in a food processor and reduced them to about the consistency of dry grits. Left those in a zip lock bag by the worm bin for about a week to ferment and get a little stinky. Against my better judgment I dumped the entire bag in. The worms engaged within a day. Now 2 days later there is a huge ball of worms working the carrots like crazy, more worms than I even knew I had. The carrots are almost gone and I have never seen them behave this way before.

Got to get some more of that!

Also soft, mushy Strawberries and tops.
Another favorite is Avocado. Cut in half, remove seed, place right-side up. Within a day or less, the shell will be filled with worms.

I had a pretty large cucumber that was getting a little old. I sliced it in half longitudinally and placed it cut side down on the top of the top tray. I wasn't expecting much but too my surprise within a day and a half that cuke had become a mass of worms. The don't like peanut shells. I've had a bunch of them kicking around in the bins and also in my outdoor compost piles and they just don't seem to break down.
