Will half a worm live?

While planting my tomatoes I occasionally cut a worm in half while digging the planting holes. I heard that one can cut a worm in half and both halves can live and make two worms. Is that true?

RE: Will half a worm live?

If a worm's tail is cut off, it can often grow a new tail. Cutting a worm in half will result in two halves of a dead worm.
