First off, The Worm Factory is not a flow through system. It is a stacking tray system. You can easily convert a Rubbermaid bin into a stacking tray system by buying another bin and poking holes in the bottom of it, and using that as a second tray.

But if you want to take what you have now, and put it into another system, the worms will complain for a day or so, but everything should be back to business as usual pretty quickly.

It's funny you'd say "upgrade". I did the other way round. Have a WF first and I found it too small and too slow and upgraded to stackable Rubbermaid bin and it worked very well. I still have the WF in my kitchen but the "production" is slow.

The production is directly associated how are the condition in your worm bin (air flow, temperature, pH, what do you feed to worms, etc) AND how big is your bin (in area not volume) AND how many worms do you have in each bin.

Do your Rubbermaid has a bigger area then a WF tray? If so, this is probably why your Rubbermaid is more productive.
