If whatever they are do not fly and stay in the bin, that is good. They are helping to get the food worm ready.

Nope, no jumping. I saw that as a trait of the flea beetle, but I just though mine might be lazy :-).

I guess I won't worry about it. I don't mind the BSFL, but these white maggots are just gross.

I have a heavy duty shredder and use mostly shredded cardboard. The worms seem to love it and it doesn't clump like the shredded paper.
