Moved my worms

So I'm at week three with my worms (European Nightcrawlers) and I didn't like how I had my original bedding set up. WAY too much soil. So, I decided to move them into a new bin.

New bin is entirely egg cartons and shredded newspaper with just about two cups of soil from the old bin thrown in.

My five year old helped me move the worms. We counted 267. I purchased 250--either I got some cocoons with my purchase, or they sent me extra. I have only seen one dead one in the three weeks.

I'm keeping the other bin set up just in case there are cocoons that hatch in there.

Best thing that happened today--we had about five Canadian nightcrawlers I had put in there from a fishing trip. I moved those into a small, separate container. My son, while picking up worms, picks up two that are mating--he says "Is this a nightcrawler?" :) lol--it just looked really big because they were joined. First set of worms I've seen mating...and didn't find any more dead ones other than the one I found two weeks ago!
