Now I not making fun of what you said... well not totally...but why would you go through the effort to wash something to give to a bunch of worms that you did not think was needed to wash for your family?

Because the family wouldn't eat the peels and they didn't touch the inside before putting it in their mouth?

The bad kind that is ilegle in the US.
My mom washes her bananas before she puts them in the fruit bowl. I don't. Maybe I should. I wash watermellons and cantalope well due to samanella.
With die offs everyone thinks it is ... flavor of the month. We can add bananas to the list right under protein bars. Who knows? I don't. I have a bunch of bananas I have to go wash now.

I must be getting the 'safe' bananas....my worms swarm over not only peels, but some whole bananas that got too ripe in summer heat,

bananas are what I used to get my bin started. they disappeared fast (i left out the peel for some and not others)

I sure hope they are ok cause many times we have 1 brown banana that no one eats....

There is always one in every bunch.

My worms love bananas & peels. I always cut off the stem and 1/2" off the bottom since those parts seem to last forever. I fill large zip-lock bags with peels and leave them outside to rot. I also pour off any liquid that accumulates. After a week or two, I run them through my hand-crank meat grinder, together with pumpkin, melon & watermelon rinds that have been frozen and thawed (turning the rinds soft and rubbery). I then layer the mush into the bin an inch or two below the surface. Within 2 days, the worms are all over it. Together with this last batch, I also had 3 rotten grapefruits and a moldy lemon. The worms were having a feast.
