Oh my! I may not get anything done around here now... between watching what gets eaten (or not), trying new bedding options and paying more attention to the dampness of the bin (something I have rather ignored for years but, since spending time on this forum, has become a daily preoccup....no- just something to observe)! Now, off to feed and look for the "herd" moving!

so neat! Now I need to get my worms to follow a good leader. I hope they decide to go to the bottom of my flow through and make me some VC that can fall through the bars!

kath....I think that many of us are secret 'mad scientists'. I am fascinated by these little squirmy creatures that are, on one hand very soft and vulnerable, and on the other hand very tough ... able to take the worst that Nature can throw at them and still survive.

alabam..... now all you have to worry about is devising a suitable costume, worthy of the role of 'worm whisperer'....and of course, who will play YOU, when they make a movie out of your life.

In my laboratory, late at night, I am working on getting the worms to self harvest onto that conveyer belt. I DO think it is possible.

I saw a show on PBS about a guy who makes products out of garbage. He sells the liquid worm fertilizer at the big box stores. The garbage food is put in a tumbler for three days and then is spread across a conveyer belt that's tilted slightly upward. The worm poop falls off into a collection bin. It seemed kinda cruel to me because the worms never burrowed in the food.
