Escaping worms

I have had a worm factory worm bin for about 10 months now and things have been going OK with it. I think I feed them too much, but that's for another post.

Lately, it seems like whenever we get a good rain at night I find a couple of worms on my kitchen floor in the morning. It's been wet and cool all week with more rain last night. When I woke up went into my kitchen this morning there were hundreds of worms wiggling all over my floor. I picked up the live ones and chucked them back into the bin, and none have come out since I turned the light on in the kitchen.

Is it normal for them to "get lost" when it's wet and dark out? I would think if anything was forcing them out of the bin (food they dont like, too hot/cold, etc) it would happen regardless of time of day and how humid it is out.
