A bedding related question

I've been keeping a small worm bin inside since October and everything is going well. The worms are healthy, lively, and are multiplying nicely (I saw a couple of cocoons for the first time yesterday).

So here's my question. Am I supposed to be adding fresh bedding or do I just add food and let the worm castings increase the volume of material in the bin?

Add bedding too. My rule of thumb was to add a layer of bedding over a layer of food. The worms eat both. If you don't add bedding, the bin will become a mess.

Another rule of thumb is to keep the whole bin about 6 inches deep. If it is less than that, add bedding. If you have 6 inches of mostly castings, it is time to harvest.
