feeding enough?

It's easy to tell if you overfeed with the stinky bin, etc. but how do I know if I'm feeding enough??

RE: feeding enough?

If you always have some rotting food in the bin, you are not underfeeding.

I batch feed -- when the old batch is almost gone, in goes the new batch of food and bedding.

RE: feeding enough?

What I have read so far, worms will re-process their poop. Don't worry too much about under-feeding.

RE: feeding enough?

I am actually concerned about underfeeding because my family of 8 makes alot more waste than I can handle with the worms right now and so I am trying to make sure that I am feeding them as much as I can without the stinky bin syndrome! Someday, I will have a second bin, I hope, but my husband isn't too enamored with the first one and so I'm trying to take it slow and let him see how useful it is. I don't need the castings/fertilizer much right now as much as I just am trying to cut down on landfill.

RE: feeding enough?

Turn the dial all the way up to stinky and then back off one notch.

RE: feeding enough?

Hah, yes turn the dial up to 11!
