How Do You Separate The Worms From The Castings?

Hi Everyone,

I have my worms in a large rubbermaid bin. I've read somewhere, but I can't remember much, that you can get the worms to all gather in a huge mass with light and "something". I am hoping someone here knows what I mean because I just can't remember it all. Something about using a large cup or some kind of container with light.

HELP! Or any other ideas would be appreciated. I started out with 1/4 pound of redworms I purchased online about 2 months ago and it seems to have doubled that amount now. I just want to see out of curiosity what I've got. They love bananas and coffee grounds!

This is one of the most common discussions on this forum. People have different ways of sorting, and they've all been described at one time or another. Go to the Vermicomposting Forum page and click on the "Search" link. Then type in "separate" and voila...lots of posts. I'm including the link for this search below.

The search terms "harvesting" and "sorting" also give you tons of information. If you have more specific questions about some of these methods, please ask away. Everyone is happy to help.
