Compost worms for veggie garden?

So I have a nice cold compost going and every time I turn it, it seems like there are hundreds of worms. These little guys are crazy and, from what I gather, seem to be the "Alabama jumper" worms.

My veggie garden is about 20 yards away and seems to only have night crawlers and some other smaller species, but not the jumpers. Also, the worms in the garden are much smaller in number than the compost.

I've heard if you get too many worms, they can eat the roots and kill your plants, but I'm not sure if it's true or not. My question is, should I grab a handful of the jumpers and throw them in the veggie garden next time I turn my compost? Would it help, hinder, or be indifferent to either the garden or the compost? Being so close together, I assume the jumpers will get there eventually. I just don't want to hurt my veggies.

Please advise. Thanks
